Dirty Air, Beautiful Music: Grant Maloy Smith’s ‘Dust Bowl’ Features Top Nashville Players

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) – When Grant Maloy Smith decided to record a concept album about one of the darkest periods of American history, he turned to some of Nashville’s top session players for help.

“Dust Bowl – American Stories” consists of 13 songs about the series of massive dust storms that ravaged the Southern Plains during the 1930s, destroying crops and killing livestock. Each song tells a different story about how the Dust Bowl affected farmers, ranchers, Native Americans and children.

“My main goal in writing the album was to capture the hardy nature of those people who endured so much, set against the backdrop of this real-life drama,” Smith said.

Though he is based in Rhode Island, Smith spends a lot of time in Nashville, which is where he recorded and mixed “Dust Bowl.” Among the musicians backing Grant on the album are Jeff Taylor (accordion), Mike Johnson (pedal steel, lap steel), Gareth Laffely (Native American Flute), Scott Vestal (banjo), Steve Stokes (fiddle, mandolin), Tim Lorsch (cello, viola, violin), Troy Klontz (pedal steel, dobro) and 13-time IBMA Dobro Player of the Year Rob Ickes.

The first single being released to country radio, from the album, is the patriotic “I Come From America,” which celebrates the diversity and strength of the migrants who fled their dirt-covered farms and communities, in search of jobs. The music video can be seen here:

Smith wrote the songs on “Dust Bowl” himself, but shares producing credit with Jeff Silverman of Palette Music Studio Productions. Silverman’s previous credits include projects with Rick Springfield, The Allman Brothers, Boyz II Men, George Clinton, Paula Abdul and other prominent artists. With “Dust Bowl – American Stories,” Silverman proves he is as skilled working in Americana as he is in the pop world.

The music of Grant Maloy Smith is available on iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby. Information is available at

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country Music lcon Kenny Rogers set the tone during The Nation We Build Together gala opening at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History last night. Performing in front of the gallery that houses The Star-Spangled Banner, the actual flag that inspired what is now the national anthem, Rogers sang his song “’Merica” illustrated with his photo images of the landscapes and people of “the land that I love…America.”

The Nation We Build Together is a presentation of four exhibitions and interactive experiences that invite audiences to immerse themselves in the fundamental American stories, from the founding of the country, through today. The newly transformed second floor of the museum’s west wing opens June 28th.

Following the six-song set, which also included “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town,” “Lucille,” “The Gambler,” “Islands In The Stream,” and “You Can’t Make Old Friends” to a capacity crowd of 600 guests, the museum acknowledged Rogers’ “unique contribution to American music.” The honor was presented by the museum’s director John Gray and Ambassador Nicholas Taubman, chairman of the museum’s board.

“I thank you more than you know for the gift of that experience,” Rogers remarked. “Who would believe that a child from the projects in Houston, Texas could ultimately end up in The Smithsonian Institution? It is truly the American Dream.”

After more than five decades of touring and entertaining the world, Kenny Rogers is currently in the middle of his final worldwide tour: “The Gambler’s Last Deal,” which is expected to run into 2018.

Rogers has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. He has charted a record within each of the last seven decades. The first country artist to consistently sell out arenas, Rogers achieved pop superstardom as well — his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10's rank him fourth-best of all time among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers has recorded 24 No. 1 hits, 12 No. 1 albums, 25 Top 10 country albums and is the RIAA’s eighth best-selling male solo artist of all time. The Country Music Hall of Fame member has received three GRAMMY® Awards, 11 People's Choice Awards, 19 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards and six Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, among many other accolades.

Rolling Stone's 100 Best Country Artists Of All Time
From Johnny Cash to Crystal Gayle and everyone in between including Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Tanya Tucker, Charley Pride, Bill Anderson, Randy Travis, The Judds, John Anderson and more
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s no secret that Webster Public Relations is blessed to work with some of the best-selling and most influential artists of all time. Collectively, our artists have sold hundreds of millions of records and Rolling Stones' recent 100 Greatest Country Artists Of All Time chart proves it.

Webster PR’s client roster continues to tour year-around, record new music and entertain their loyal fan base, and can also be seen on such national TV series asTodayThe Tonight ShowFox & Friends and more.

"What an honor to have 16 artists that we have worked with in the Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time!," exclaimed Wester Public Relations president Kirt Webster. "The heritage and history of Country music must never be forgotten and many on this list represent decades of musicians who have come and gone, yet their music and influence still is recognized today. As a fan – which we all are at heart – I grew up enamored with all of the artists listed in the Top 100, whether we represent them or not. What a blessing it was to represent George Jones, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, and The Texas Tornados (Doug Sahm) who may no longer be with us, but their music has continued to live on and influence many of today's stars.”

Billboard's list includes current and deceased Webster PR clients:

No. 3 - Johnny Cash - CM Hall of Fame member
No. 8 - Dolly Parton - CM Hall of Fame member
No. 9 - George Jones - CM Hall of Fame member
No. 15 - Ray Price - CM Hall of Fame member
No. 31 - Charley Pride - CM Hall of Fame member

No. 86 - Bill Anderson - CM Hall of Fame member

According to Rolling Stone, for those who made the cut, they considered their lasting impact on the genre, their recorded output and even their legacy as an entertainer. Some of the contemporary artists they included – all of them already trailblazers – also benefited from their speculation that their best work may in fact be ahead of them. But in the end, the common denominator for both legends and today's stars was that they are all one-of-a-kind.

Jackson's debut performance on the Opry stage took place in the 1950s at the historic Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville. This will be her first appearance on the show since 2011, when she appeared with Rock and Roll artist Jack White of The White Stripes.

A native of Maud, Oklahoma, Jackson has enjoyed success in a wide variety of formats, perhaps being best-known for being billed as one of the earliest female pioneers of rockabilly. “Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad” and “Let’s Have A Party” were two of her earliest hits in this vein. The latter was also recorded by Elvis Presley, whom Jackson briefly dated in the late 1950s. She scored with cross-over hits such as “Right Or Wrong” and “In The Middle Of A Heartache,” which were Top 30 hits on both the Billboard Country charts, as well as the Hot 100.

A 1963 album, Two Sides Of Wanda, helped to further introduce her to Country fans. The Grammy-nominated disc foreshadowed many hits in the format for Jackson in the 1960s and 1970s, including “The Box It Came In” and “Tears Will Be The Chaser For Your Wine.” She also enjoyed several hits in the gospel field for Word and Myrrh Records.

In recent years, appreciation of Jackson and her music have grown to include multiple generations. She is a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, of which she became a member in April 2009. She was named as one of CMT’s 40 Greatest Women In Country Music during a 2002 special, and was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance from the Americana Music Honors and Awards by White in 2010. White produced her 2011 disc, The Party Ain’t Over, which earned rave reviews from critics, as well as guest shots on such programs as Conan and The Late Show with David Letterman.
Jackson continues to perform and record, working on a new album, set for release later in 2017. She collaborated with Pistol Annies member Angaleena Presley on “Good Girl Down,” which appears on Presley’s newest album, Wrangled. Presley will also be making an appearance on the Opry Saturday evening.

Negron Generations album cover

Features Iconic Vocalists’ Daughters, Charlie and Annabelle

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 16, 2017) – Chuck Negron’s voice is engrained in American musical history through hits like “Joy to the World" and “One” from supergroup Three Dog Night. On June 30, Negron will release the album he’s always wanted to release with daughters Charlie and Annabelle also featuring three previously unreleased Three Dog Night tracks. The album, titled Negron Generations is available for preorder now at and can be found on all digital music outlets June 30.

The unreleased tracks were recorded by the band in the mid-1970s prior to their first breakup in 1976. “The Letter,” “Save Our Ship” and “This Is Your Captain Calling” feature that iconic sound that could only come from the original vocalists of Three Dog Night; Cory Wells, Danny Hutton and Chuck Negron.

“I hope that the world can be reminded through this new record about the power of harmony and passion in music. The early years of Three Dog Night yielded much success but it was because the three of us matched each other near-perfectly and had a stellar band to back us up,” said Chuck Negron, continuing “to have my daughters involved in this project was a dream come true for me, I’ve always wanted to bring them into the music and they really ran with it.”

Chuck, Charlie and Annabelle created a unique harmony blend that only a family can. The sisters’ lead vocals on The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby/Do I Love You” are compelling.

Negron is currently touring for the fourth year on the critically-acclaimed, Happy Together tour, joining The Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie as well as The Association, The Box Tops, The Cowsills and The Archies starring Ron Dante.

Negron Generations Track Listing:
1. Open My Heart
2. I Live Alone
3. Be My Baby/Do I Love You
