Dolly Expands Empire With Dream More Resort
Dolly Parton, cut the ribbon for opening day at Dollywood 30 years ago. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed since the legendary performer's dreams of her own theme park were realized. All these years later the 150 acre park is Tennessee's #1 most visited ticketed attraction.
Since opening Dollywood, Dolly has realized other family entertainment dreams such as The Dixie Stampede Dinner Theater (located in Pigeon Forge and Branson, MO), The Pirate's Voyage (Myrtle Beach, SC) and she most recently acquired a competing Pigeon Forge dinner theater attraction, "Lumberjack Feude", though it's not clear if the show will stay the same or change.
One of Parton's biggest Family Entertainment investments was in 2001 with Dollywood's Splash Country, a 35 acre water amusement theme park adjacent to Dollywood. The water park is one of the finest in the nation and includes slides, rides, waves, rafts and many attractions.
Today marks another momentous occasion for Dolly, as she sees a dream she's had since her initial dreams of Dollywood come true. Dollywood's Dream More Resort Hotel, with rocking chairs, bon fires, shopping, spa, and restaurants. Guests can choose from over 300 rooms and speciality suites, a Dolly Parton suite that is being billed as where she'll stay when at Dollywood also has been created. The resort will create an addition of 2,000 jobs for Pigeon Forge.
