Wynonna and Kellie Pickler Heading to Dancing With the Stars! Best Cast Ever!
This is going to be THE SEASON of Dancing With The Stars! I
think this is the greatest line up they have ever had in their existence of the
show. Not to say that they haven't had bigger stars in the past, but never at
the same time.
Country Music fans have Wynonna and Kellie Pickler coming to
the big screen and you better expect this will help launch their career
comeback. And don't expect them to be kicked off so soon either, Country Music
fans are very loyal and they will call in and show their support for Wy and
Kellie, you better believe it. But I can't wait to see Wynonna shake her tail
feathers and what get up they will dress her up in. Wy is a fun gal so you can
bet she will be entertaining. Kellie, you never know what is going to come out
of her mouth. She has the sexy look of Dolly Parton and the conversation of
Loretta Lynn. You can bet she'll be spunky but you can also count on her to say
some crazy stuff and we're going to love every second of it.

Kelly Clarkon Has Beef With Music Power House, Clive Davis
Kelly Clarkson has taken issue, and not for the first time, with music
powerhouse, Clive Davis. In Davis's memoir, The Soundtrack Of My Life, he states
that Kelly, cried hysterically when he demanded that Since You Been Gone, be
included on her album.
Clarkson made the following comments in response to Clive's recollections:
"His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the
original demo and Clive did not. [Producers Max Martin and Łukasz "Dr. Luke"
Gottwald] and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I
couldn't be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that
song in any way."
Davis issued the following statement:
As anyone who has read "The Soundtrack of My Life" knows, I think Kelly
Clarkson is a tremendous vocal talent and performer. In the book, I provide an
in-depth look at our years together during which we shared major multi-platinum
success, as well as a few creative differences. I am truly very sorry that she
has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our
time together. Before the book was published, I had every fact checked with five
independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The
chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them.
I stand by the chapter as written in my book. At the same time I wish, and will
always wish, Kelly's talent and her career to soar to ever new heights.
To me, Clarkson, should hush, be grateful for the "hand up" Davis gave her.
Never go against one of the most respected men in the music industry. Keep the
drama separate. She certainly was a bigger star when with Davis.
ABC Television Is Keeping It Country
According to AOL's The Boot, Kip Moore, Vince Gill, and Pam Tillis are
headed for guest appearances on the ABC drama Nashville. Personally, I think
it's wonderful. I'd much rather see the likes of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and
much more known stars make an appearance on the show but am in support of
anything that brings attention to Nashville or Country Music.
Speaking of ABC programs, Reba McEntire wants Dolly Parton to guest on her
new sitcom, Malibu Country. The comedy sitcom who costars the hilarious Lily
Tomlin (an old friend of mine), who was Dolly's costar in 9to5. McEntire would
like to see Parton and Tomlin's other costar Jane Fonda also appear in the same
episode, creating a 9to5 reunion. If I were Dolly, I'd be up on it, it's another
media tool to promote the 9to5 Broadway Musical Road Tour.
You Asked! Here's My Thoughts, Albeit Brief, About The Grammy's
I've gotten an enormous amount of email, asking my thoughts of this years
Grammy's, and why I hadn't posted anything about the award show. First, I have
had some computer problems, it's good to know people actually read the blog
though, also that they have an interest in what I think. That could be
dangerously scary when you think of it though. Just teasin'!
Well.....to be honest, I can't say that I was thrilled with the Grammy's.
It had some ok moments and lots of "not so ok moments". I thought it was
wonderful that Patti Page was recognized, through a performance of "The
Tennessee Waltz", by Kelly Clarkson. While I'm not a big Clarkson fan and think
there could have been a blue dozen better choices for the tribute, it was nice
to see an homage to Patti, a lovely woman, and entertainer.
Probably the best part of the night for me was the jam session with Elton
John, Mavis Staples, Mumford and Sons, Zac Brown, T-Bone Burnette, Brittany
Howard of the Alabama Shakes singing "Take A Load Off Annie" in tribute to the
late Levon Helm. Howard was amazing, I'll be sure to check out more music from
her. Mavis, I love, and Zac Brown is probably the only actual authentic sounding
country singer of the day, in country music. Well done Grammy's. I'd like more
of that and less of the boom hippity boom.
By the way, I know Frank Ocean, is supposed to be this incredible artist,
though I'm not really familiar with his work as of yet. His voice is pleasing,
that's well and good, but his song which seemed to be about, Forrest Gump, is
probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. For goodness sake, you're on the
Grammy's, why not try to blow the people away with some amazing lyrics that
highlight some vocal ability. To me, that performance was liken to a great
singer, singing the theme to "Sesame Street", and Sesame's melody is better, so
maybe Ocean can sing that next year???
Mama June lost 100 lbs!
Honey Boo Boo's Mama June, has lost 100 lbs. June Shannon, who goes by
"Mama June", on the show says that when TLC started filming their reality show
she weighed 365 lbs. and now she is 263 lbs.
I haven't done any surgeries...no diet pills...never went to the gymn,"
says Mama June, who credits her weight loss to being so active on the show.
Hope Sugar Bear isn't upset that there is less of Mama June to love on!
Mama June, is a wonderful lady in my opinion. All the money that is made by
the children on the Honey Boo Boo show is put in trust funds for them, without
access until 21 years of age. Smart lady, thanks for looking out for your
children, so many don't these days.
Lily Tomlin and Family Help Others, While Sharing The Memory Of Their Mother
Actress, Lily Tomlin, currently starring with Reba McEntire, on ABC's
Malibu Country recently ventured to Palm Springs to dedicate a special community
project. Along with Nashville residents, and my friends, Nashville residents;
Tennesse Michael and her brother Richard Tomlin, were on hand last month,
dedicating the "Lillie Mae Tomlin" kitchen, within the Hanson House. Lillie Mae
Tomlin, the mother of Lily and Richard passed away in July of 2005.
The Hanson House's website refers to their facility as a "home away from
home, for the families and loved ones of critically ill or injured patients in
the Palm Springs area hospitals". The facility provides low or no cost
accommodations in a Spanish style mansion.
Creating a kitchen in memory of her mother was dear to the comedian's
heart, she told the The Desert Sun, "Her place was called "the lily pad" an her
solution to everything was, "Come in the kitchen, and we'll make it
It was a family reunion of sorts as well, Tennessee Michael and Richard
Tomlin, are former residents of the Palm Springs area, they joined their famous
sister, and other old friends. Tomlin and partner, Jane Wagner held an intimate
Q&A session as a fundraiser for the organization, raising $25,000 from the
150 guests. Brother Richard and Tennessee Michael also performed during the week
at one of the resort area's hotel. Tennessee Michael, served as a producer for
many of the shows that Richard Tomlin performed at the Palm Springs Marquis
Resort and Hotel, when they lived in the area.
Emmylou Harris Pleads Not Guilty To Hit and Run Charge
Emmylou Harris, has plead "not guilty" to a hit and run offence, allegedly
taking place last October in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for Emmylou states, "she was involved in a "minor traffic
accident" in which she "unintentionally" rubbed bumpers with another vehicle",
leaving the scene only because she didn't realize there had been contact between
Personally, I feel she didn't actually hit and run. Emmylou, is too busy
saving stray and unwanted pets to jeopardize her reputation on such a
Blake Shelton and Ray Price, Peace Meeting?
"Country music binds us together! We
are a family. Forever and always. Tonight was a celebration of friends and
heroes," were the words used by Miranda Lambert, when she posted this photo of
her husband, Blake Shelton and Country Music Legend, Ray Price.
Ray Price, recently wanted folks to
know that the offer for Blake Shelton to open his show, didn't come from him,
but the promoter. I made that clear in my post but some folks jumped on Ray,
through social media, when they heard from other outlets that Ray made the
request. I still think Blake should do it!
Jimmy Carter reported on the radio this
morning that Blake came on stage to make his peace summit known to the Ray Price
fans out there. Wonder if he got any boos?
