Randy Travis Pleads Not Guilty: A Look Into His Recent Troubles

Randy Travis pleaded not guilty to the simple assault charges on Friday. The charges stem from an alleged altercation in a church parking lot with the husband of Travis's current fiancee. In a Plano, TX courtroom Randy requested a jury trial for the matter.

Larry Friedman, Travis's attorney, told the Dallas Morning News, his client intervened when two men were harassing his fiancee and her 17 year old daughter. He says that Randy was attacked and merely defending himself.

It's not been a good year for the country crooner. Here's an outline of some of his recent troubles.

*On February 6 Randy was arrested for public intoxication while sitting in his car at a Baptist Church in Sanger, TX. He was placed on a 90 day probation after paying a fine.

*On August 7 Police in Grayson County, TX responded to a call that a naked man was lying in the road. When officers arrived they found Randy naked and smelling of booze. Police say that Randy had a car cash in a construction zone. When officers tried to apprehend the singer they claim he threatened their lives and was arrested for driving while intoxicated and retaliation against law enforcement officials. Travis posted bail and since it was in a separate county it didn't violate the conditions of his parole. Prior to the incident Randy walked into a Tiger Mart (convenience store) buck naked and demanded that the cashier give him ciagarettes. The clerk alerted the authorities and Randy left the store when he realized he didn't have any money to pay for the cigarettes. (Randy Randy Randy---you should always duct tape a $20 on your person when you plan to go shopping naked!)

*August 24 Randy was cited in Plano, TX for simple assault. Police responded to a call in the early morning hours that two men were fighting outside a church. One witness reported that Randy appeared "extremely intoxicated". Both Randy and his fiancee's husband were taken to the hospital.

*August 25 A pick up truck registered in Randy's name was found crashed in an abandoned field in Frisco, TX.

Travis has apologized for his behavior and says he is threw with booze. "Randy is no longer drinking any alcohol," Attorney, Friedman told the Morning News. "He’s committed to a new fitness regimen that includes a strict three-hour workout every day and a new high-protein diet."

I'm pulling for Randy. I hope he gets it together and makes some more incredible music. Randy really deserves a great deal of credit for his place in country music history. Not only has he had hits in the last three decades but he did so while remaining a traditional country music artist, not caving into industry pressure to pop or fluff up the music. I think Randy should be in the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Without trying to take away from Vince Gill and Garth Brook's inductions, I think they were inducted prematurely.

Lindsay Lohan's Paycheck Docked

Lindsay Lohan is being accused of trashing her trailer on the set of Scary Movie 5, because producer's wouldn't give into her demands. Lohan says she's being framed. The actress was a no show for the first day of shooting and when she showed up to the set, she claims she walked into a trashed trailer. Producers for the film told her that she wouldn't be getting her full pay check because they would be deducting $10,000.
Charlie Sheen is also in the film stated in another interview the reason he loaned Lindsay 100,000 for her tax debt was because she wasn't being paid the money she was owed during Scary Movie 5. So, the trailer trash (no pun intended) was the reason. Sheen went on to say that since loaning her the money she never called to say thank you, never wrote a thank you note, never sent a text, and he hasn't heard from her since. He plays the situation up with humor but you can tell he's secretly peed off, he can't fool anyone, we know he wanted more than a text for that 100,000. Who could blame him for trying, Lindsay's looking GOOD these days, if she wanted to trash my trailer I wouldn't mind!

Charlie Daniels Recovers At Home From Surgery

Charlie Daniels had surgery on Monday to repair a rotator cuff. The surgery went well and he is resting at home. Daniels said he won't miss any of his scheduled tour dates and can't wait to get back out on the road making music with his friends for his fans. Wonder if all that heavy "Devil Went Down To Georgia" fiddle playing messed that cuff up?
Mr. Daniels is one of the nicest guys in the business and he has done a lot of civic work for Nashville and for neighboring Wilson County. The city of Mt. Juliet even dons a Charlie Daniels Public Park. A very nice clean park to bring your kids, I've always had a good time there with family.

This is one of the most informative, interesting interviews I've seen with Charlie Daniels. Thought you might like to give it a watch.

Victoria Jackson Comments Make News

Saturday Night Live alumni, Victoria Jackson has stunned some with her more active role in the world of conservative politics. Her recent remarks have some talking but are they really outside what a lot of Americans feel? Or is it taking a tragedy to promote another cause? Either way she's hilarious and was part of the best in SNL cast in my honest opinion.

Dolly's Busy And So Is Her Empire

If Dolly Parton isn't busy, she isn't happy. If Dolly herself isn't jet-setting around the world pleasing fans, she's writing, creating, recording and making literary efforts like her most recent "Dream More" which is on two separate New York Times Best Seller Lists at the moment. Yet even when Dolly herself isn't out and about her empire is at work.
Daredevil Falls
Thunderhead Rollercoaster
Dollywood has announced plans to demolish it's current "Adventure Mountain" attraction which was a 6 million dollar expansion as recent as 2010. The now departing attraction featured more than 100 obstacle course attractions such as swinging bridges, rope obstacles, and three various skill levels of it's attractions. But the demolition will make way for the 2014 reveal of Dollywood's new "one of a kind" ride attraction. Dollywood has been making huge strides with their amusement rides. Their current coaster "Wild Eagle" came in hard and strong winning "Best New Ride" by Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards.

2012's Wild Eagle Wins Applause Award
Another revision/addition which will take place for the 2013 season will be "Imagination Cinema", a 500 seat theater that will be the home of a new show made up of Dolly's family members. In recent comments to the press Dolly has stated that she is writing new music for the show and will appear in the show via video to help her family tell the story of her early years in the Smokies and the lives of several of her deceased relatives, like her parents. Currently, this building houses a 4D adventure cinema ride from your very own seat. I actually am surprised that this attraction is going because it was a fun ride/show attraction in an area with not very many amusement rides. But Dollywood knows what they are doing and I know the new show will be sure to impress. No word yet on whether the show will be comprised of the Kinfolks members who perform at the Backporch Theater or if some of her siblings like park alumni Randy Parton or even sister, Stella might make appearances in the new show.

No matter what's going on in the life of Dolly, a diva's work is never done. Head on down to Dollywood before the "Smokey Mountain Christmas" festival is over. Now Dollywood has their own luxury cabins, a water park, and buzz about a resort hotel in the works. And of course Dolly still has her dinner theater attraction "The Dixie Stampede"also in Pigeon Forge and Branson and her Pirate's Voyage Dinner Theater in Myrtle Beach.

Have you been to Dollywood?

Faye Resnick? Bravo Please!!!

Guess who came out from her crypt to make an appearance on the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills? You probably won't have any idea who she is but some of us who lived through the O.J. Simpson trial know all to well. For those of you who don't know, Faye Resnick, was the admitted coke head friend of the slain Nicole Brown Simpson. During the infamous O.J. Simpson murder trial, Faye, milked the publicity and cameras for every nickels worth. A book about the murder of Nicole followed and a spread of her overly exposed (literally) body in Playboy. Nothing says I love my murdered friend like showing your naked butt and tats tats to the world.

Back to Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Kyle filled Faye Resnick in on all the gossip concerning the latest drama (ala Brandi/Adrienne) so that she could do her dirty work like she did in previous seasons. Faye attacked Brandi Glanville. Now, I'm not sure Ms. Faye "baked to a crisp" Resnick (she's looking like Crypt Keeper these days) wants to go up against Ms. Glanville. Eddie Cibrian and Leann Rimes have tried, and Eddie had the slashed tires to prove it! Adrienne Maloof has tried (and she has probably worked her way off the show and into a spiral abyss of insanity with her ex-Paul).

But in closing, lets go back to Faye Resnick. The website www.celebritynetworth.com says Faye's networth is 3.5 million dollars. They also sum her up very well when they assert "you don't have to be liked by very many people to be successful". It's good to know all that money she made hocking her naked body and selling out her dead friend didn't all get snorted up her well chiseled nose.
Are you team Brandi or team Faye?

Lisa Whelchel: Player Of The Season, 100,000 Big Bucks

Lisa Whelchel won "Player of The Season" on survivor and gets the big 100,000 bucks! Lisa thanked her fans in her email newsletter list. Lisa says that it was the closest vote they ever had and Lisa had more website votes than anyone. So maybe some of us helped Lisa make some big bucks!

Emmylou Harris's Miracle On Music Row

Timeless Emmylou Harris held her annual Miracle On Music Row event benefiting her charity, Bonaparte's Retreat. "Bonaparte's Retreat" is Emmy's dog rescue program that saves dogs from being uthonized and adopts them out to good homes. Emmylou was as gracious as always to her guests and I enjoyed watching her and my son, Pierce play with one of the rescue dogs (photos above).

This year events included the annual parade with Emmylou, marching band, dogs, and Santa. Small vendors and visits with the dogs in need of adoption, silent auction, contests, sell of some clothes from Emmy's wardrobe, and a concert with Emmylou, Rodney Crowell, Mike Farris, Jim Lauderdale, Buddy Miller and others. The highlight for me was hearing Emmylou sing "Orphan Girl" live,I never grow tired of that. Next to Emmylou, Mike Farris stole the show, this man is a ball of energy. I didn't get to speak to him at the event as it started to drizzle some rain drops but if you aren't familiar with his music, you should check him out.

I've promised my 8 year old son, Pierce, that we will strongly consider an adoption of a dog soon. I hope if you are capable you will consider doing so also. Too many unwanted animals end up dead because someone got tired of playing with them and decided to discard them. When you do adopt an animal remember they are a commitment and eventually the "new" does taper off but they are living beings and not toys.

Oscar winning actor, Morgan Freeman has played everything from the US President to Mandela to God himself. After the recent Elementary School massacre, Freeman had this to say...

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single victim of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Hitchcock Film Upsets Phsyco Writer's Widow

Marilyn Stefano, the widow of "Physco" screenwriter Joseph Stefano has taken legal action against Fox Searchlight Pictures over what she feels is a false depiction of her late husband in the new film, "Hitchcock" starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren.

The biggest beef that Mrs. Stefano has is a comment made in the movie in which Helen Mirren's character (Alma Reville) states “You shouldn’t wait until halfway through; kill her off after 30 minutes". Mrs. Stefano feels that the film inaccurately portrays Alma Reville (Hitchcock's wife) as a ghost co writer of the famed movie's screen play and insists her husband wrote the screen adaptation alone.

In an open letter to the Agoura Hills Patch newspaper, Mrs. Stefano states:

“Shortly after Joe and Hitch meet [in the movie],” Marilyn wrote, “Hitch tells Alma he had Stefano write out the first few scenes, asks her to read them and she tells him—“Hire him.” … There’s no way Joe would have started writing any of the script without first being hired—which he was at the end of that first meeting—he would have gotten in trouble with the Writers Guild that doesn’t allow auditioning.

Yes, since Phsyco I shower clothed!

“They have a scene where Peggy, Hitch’s assistant, actually says that the credit should be: Written by Joseph Stefano and Alma Reville! (Alma says: “The people who matter know. That’s all that counts.”) Strangely, this little scene is not in the script the studio sends out for writing nomination. Did they ad-lib it?”

Mrs. Stefano is represented by high power entertainment attorney, William Sobel, she means business and she will eventually get a pay out I'm sure. So, despite some hurt feelings and bruised ego, she probably should be thankful because she and her son should get some monetary retribution, if not, I would be shocked.

I caught the movie two weeks ago and it was amazing! Helen Mirren and Antony Hopkins should both get Oscar Nominations for their work. I believe I read (or maybe heard) that Mirren was in the buzz for consideration. You'll love the film, it's a must see, the dynamic between Hitchcock and Reville in the film is so compelling.

Taylor Swift and Britney

Thrifty Swifty & Britney Made Major Money This Year---

Forbes Magazine ranks Britney Spears and Taylor Swift as the top earning women in the music business for this past year. Britney as the top earner, bringing in an estimated of 58 million dollars from her album sales, perfumes, product endorsements and her pay check from The X Factor. Ms. Spears is proof that X marks the spot, after joining the reality contest show, her popularity took flight. She seems to have control of her mental state too, so go Brit!.

Taylor Swift came in right behind Britney with an estimated 57 million. Thrifty Swifty's concert tour earned the singer 1 million dollars per night, her line of fragrances and her deal with cosmetic line, Covergirl, helped fatten up her wallet. One thing that's worth a mention, Taylor writes most of her hit songs so she's making bank on the songwriter's royalties, publishing fees, broadcast rights and
on and on. Go Taylor,"I'm single, if you like short older dudes and won't make me sign a prenup, I'm yours!!"

Carrie Underwood: Not a fan of Remixes, wants the music to be authentic to the song---

Carrie Underwood tells the Chicago Tribune that she just makes the type of music the song calls for and she isn't going to sell out a song just to appease an audience. This, I like about Ms. Underwood, who's very easy on the eyes, as well as the ears. Carrie's also not a fan of album remixes and reissues (I agree) stating the following:

"I've never been one for doing remixes. Then I've gotta decide which version am I gonna be tonight: country Carrie or pop Carrie? I'd rather just make country music that anybody can get into no matter what they listen to ... I've had so many people come up to me and say, 'I didn't listen to country music, and now I do.'"

McGraw Brings in Taylor and Keith Urban For Latest Album---

Tim McGraw will release, "Two Lanes Of Freedom", on Feb 5. Tim called on some of his buddies for favors, bringing in some major star power for this album. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban make guest spots on "Highway Don't Care", a song written by Mark Irwin, Josh Kear, Brad Warren and Brett Warren. Tim and his wife Faith Hill will resume their Vegas concert stint at the Venetian (a great place to see shows if I do say so--thank you very much!) on January 18-19.

RIP Lila, Prayers For Miley, Singer Loses Beloved Pet---

Miley and Lila

Miley Cyrus's beloved dog, Lila, has died and the singer is devastated. The former Hannah Montana star took to her twitter account to share her devastation posting "can't think of one good reason to get out of bed today ... for everyone asking ... I have never been so hurt in my life. My heart has never been so broken ..... Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away ... Broken. Gonna go MIA for a bit. Need some healing time. Thank you to everyone who has sent love my way. I need it."

Miley, we're praying for you. I lost my beloved dog earlier this year. By the way, the buzz on the net is that Miley and Liam have a $150 million dollar prenuptial agreement. You go girl! Protect that Hannah Montana cash! Like I say folks, stash the cash, don't fuss just protect your bucks!

CMT News reports:
Lady Antebellum's holiday album, On This Winter's Night, has been certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of 500,000 copies. Released Oct. 22, the title track was written by the trio, and the album features 11 holiday classics. Lady Antebellum will appear on the 29th annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade special airing Dec. 25 on ABC. The program will also feature Brad Paisley, Colbie Caillat, the Backstreet Boys and American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips.

I'm a big Lady A fan! Full disclosure, part of my admiration for the talented trio is that Hillary Scott's mother, Linda Davis, is a dear friend of mine, with whom I have much love and respect for. The most fascinating fact about Lady A is that they all get along. They have no problem swapping out lead and solo parts, and most of all they are a pure talent. I remember when they were just forming and doing showcases here and there, all around Nashville. I've actually never met any of them, I hope to one day. When I do I'll hug Hillary's neck and let her know she's fabulous and her momma is one of the greatest talents of our time. Plus her little sister and my oldest son had a school boyfriend/girlfriend elementary school crush!

Enough reading....go buy Lady A's "This Winter's Night" and set your DVRs for their upcoming special!

Facts Of Life Beauty Needs Fans Help, Wants A Sitcom

Ahhhh.....Blair Warner, ahem, I mean Lisa Whelchel, needs her fans help!

In a recent email newsletter to her fans, the "Facts Of Life" beauty states, "I need your help! I really want to win "Fan Favorite" for "Survivor: Philippines." The winner gets $100,000 and I also think it would really help my argument to CBS that America would like to see me back on television (on another sitcom, perhaps.)"
Lisa's fans can vote up to 10 times at the following link: http://www.cbs.com/shows/survivor/player_of_the_week

Lisa was one of my first TV crushes so I'm one of the many who would like to see her back in a sitcom. I must admit, I could care less about watching her on "Survivor". Slurping on worms, rolling in the mud, and clothes looking torn apart doesn't belong on television. Leave all that in John Travolta's bedroom where it belongs. But Lisa, we want to see you act. I personally think you should wonder to the cable dial though and send your resume to TV Land. Betty White, Fran Drescher, and Scott Baio are all finding success there.

Make sure to vote! You can visit Lisa's personal website at the following link: http://www.lisawhelchel.com/

Kim Hoe-ziak (Oops!) Zolciak Calls Housewives Castmembers The N-Word!

Avid fans of the Real Housewives Of Atlanta got a treasure chest full of fun watching Kim Zolciak lie, make excuses, commit and decline to go on the "girl's trip" to Anguilla. Very pregnant (or maybe she had Danny Devito stuffed in her dress), she berated the cast as they questioned why she would make them arrange their schedules to accommodate hers, only for her to cancel. Insult to injury, she and husband, Kroy, are going on their own getaway at the same time. Bottom line, Kim lied!
Kim Hoe-ziak is known for her questionable behavior after all she was a mistress to "Big Papa" for many years. Most recently she was evicted from her "dream house, while the landlord also served as a floral designer for Kim's wedding, says she was stiffed on the bill! But the antics above all antics is her feud with her parents who she threw out of her wedding because her mom refused to use the port a potty.

Ms. Hoe-ziak topped it all though (if her cast mates are truthfu--and I bet they are), when she stormed out of the Anguilla conversation, she called the girls the unpardonable sin, the N-word! Yeah that's a way to leave a confrontation with five very successful African American women, who worked their way to the top, while she lay on her back as a paid mistress! That wig she's wearing must be too tight!!!

Bravo, cancel this ridiculous Kim spin off show. The world already has the Duck Dynasty so Kim's Beverly Hillbilly type situation is already an existing concept. And Honey Boo Boo can out due Kim any day, and Honey Boo Boo can carry a tune, and we all know Ms. Hoe-ziak's singing skills lack, well, lack, well, ahem, they lack singing ability! Only Helen Keller could enjoy programs with Kim Hoe-ziak. Face it without Nene to tell her off, Kim is a yawn on camera.

Bam! Happy 45th Birthday Nene!

Happy 45th Birthday (December 13) to the most famous reality star of all time, Nene Leakes. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, we've heard of the Kardashians, but they can't bring it like Ms. Leakes brings it! Nene has especially showcased her versatility by filling in for Anderson Cooper on his daytime talk show while he was on assignment in the Middle East.

Ms. Leakes broke into stardom with an immeasurable amount of success. Without having made a sex tape, without having a famous or wealthy family, without being connected to another celebrity and without having a high profile job, Nene came to stardom through her wit and Nene-isms. Most of all, Nene, did the unthinkable, she was given a regular cast member role on the new NBC hit comedy, "The New Normal". The critics and fans love Nene! After all she crossed over from reality star to situation comedic comedy actress.
In closing, the rumors online speculate that Nene and ex husband Greg will remarry over the Holidays.
A favorite Nene moment from the Real Housewives Of Atlanta Reunion. The infamous Nene line to Kim Ho-ziak...oops Zolciak, "Close you legs to married me", words from Nene.

ABC's Nashville Ratings Rising

ABC's drama series,"Nashville", is seeing a rise in their ratings. Steadily the show is building it's audience. I'm actually surprised that the network has allowed the show to build the way it has, most networks give their series a few episodes and can the show all together if not an instant success.

The plus side of having "Nashville" on the air is the fact that it gives our beautiful city and some of it's iconic attractions a stage amongst the country. Face it, our tourism has been going steadily down for years since the closing of both Opryland and the original TNN. (On a side note, TNN is back on the air and working to build it's audience, mainly reruns of old programming but that's ok with me, as those shows were so wonderful). So with the network drama filming in our city we should see some fans come through wanting to see Music City.

Most of my friends from outside of Nashville who watch the show immediately ask me who the characters are based on. Some press has alluded that the actors on the show were based on real music industry individuals. I'm sure certain aspects of this are true, but I have to tell you, in all my sincerity, Nashville, the music industry's artists and behind the scenes folks aren't anything like what the show has portrayed. Country Music and Nashvillians are fairly humble, trustworthy and most of all helpful to all the music community. Nothing like the back biting, young vs old animosity, and intense whoring around is like what is portrayed on television. Yes, all of these things exist, but not on the scale showcased in the show, but remember it's a drama and television has to incite some violent tempers in order to compete with the big dogs of reality television. Watch and enjoy, but remember, it's not really our beautiful city.

Hayden Panettiere, you can come over and be as mean as you want to me anytime. What a cutie she is! She's worth watching on Wednesday's at 10 E/ 9 C PM on ABC.

Jodee Messina Latest Artist Leaving Curb Record Label

According to CMT, Jodee Messina is the latest artist to (jump ship) part ways from Curb Records. Curb makes incredible music but for some reason they don't get a long with a lot of their artists. In the past couple years we have heard very heated comments about Curb from Tim McGraw and Hank Williams Jr. and in the past even Leann Rimes.

From my music industry sources and from what I have gathered in the media outlets, Curb, allows it's artists to make music, record with their label, but then sits on the projects. This is very frustrating to it's artists, which is understandable. Not to mention the fans that actually hear their favorite artists are in the studio but when their new cd is released it's usually a Greatest Hits compilation.
Jodee has posted on her website that she her contract with Curb was fulfilled and she has a new record coming out in 2013. Messina has signed with Clearview Artist Management and a new booking agency, APA, and says she's excited to be starting fresh.
Rumor is Bravo is welcoming Nashville to it's "Real Housewives" franchise (something I've been campaigning for). Since Messina was a guest of RHOAtlanta, maybe she would be a good consideration for it's Nashville franchise. We all know Messina's song "My Give A D@*$ Is Busted" and that's the attitude of a Bravo "Real Housewife". Jodee, if you are reading this (I'm sure she is HA!) have your agent call Bravo!

Dolly Tops NY Times Bestseller List, Gets 2 Oscar Considerations

Dolly Parton has a lot to be thankful for this Holiday Season. Her new book, "Dream More", is #23 on the New York Times Bestseller's List. The book is based off a commencement speech Dolly gave at the University Of Tennessee several years back. The book of inspiration serves as her third installment in a series of books to benefit her Imagination Library literacy program. The first being a cook book, "Dolly's Dixie Fixens" and the other a children's book, "I Am A Rainbow", all in conjunction with Pelican Publishing.

Parton's past contributions to the world of book publishing include her widely successful autobiography, "Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business" which topped the NY Times Bestseller's List. A children's book, "Coat Of Many Colors" based on her autobiographical country song about a coat her mother made from rags that caused her classmates to taunt her. In the 1980's Dolly released a book of inspirational poetry, "Just The Way I Am". Lets hope Dolly has more contributions to the book publishing world. I'd love to read a book about the stories behind her well written songs.

Another reason for Dolly to celebrate is that two of her songwriting compositions are being considered for Academy Awards' "Best Original Song". The tunes, "From Here To The Moon And Back" and "He's Everything" written and performed for the movie, "Joyful Noise", which Dolly costars with Queen Latifah. Critics are already buzzing over "From Here To The Moon And Back", a song Dolly says that her husband was the inspiration for. Out of the two it's my personal opinion that "From Here To The Moon And Back", will probably be the best choice for the win as "He's Everything" is a gospel song and Hollywood doesn't always embrace Christianity.

Dolly's been nominated twice for the Academy's "Best Original Song", her most famous recording, "9 to 5" (also the title of the film) lost to the theme of Flash Dance (eyes rolling). Disgracefully and shamefully Dolly's song, "Travelin' Thru" (from the film Transamerica) lost to the vulgar, "Hard Out Here to Be A Pimp". And though this year there is stiff competition with songs from Katy Perry, Adele, and country star Keith Urban we can keep our finger's crossed. Lets hope Dolly will dazzle the red carpet and dress in something classy and chic like she did when she performed, "The Day I Fall In Love" with James Ingram, for the 1994 Oscars.

Speaking of that beautiful look at the 1994 performance where Dolly showed Hollywood what a real star should look like. This is the Hollywood I miss.

Wow, it's been a while since, Mr. Nashville Talks (that would be me) actually did some talking!! I'm sure no one was waiting at the edge of their seats to hear what sarcastic rant I would post next, but never the less, I'm back!

Wanda Jackson & I in her dressing room after her show at 3rd and Lindsley
Wanda Jackson's latest album, Unfinished Business, is a must for your collection. The Sugar Hill Records release is a great combination of Wanda's classic rockabilly, blended with some country to give you pure listening pleasure.

Last Friday Wanda tore the house down at 3rd and Lindsley (great venue for intimate shows) in Nashville. At 75 years young Wanda dazzled the crowd, flirted a little, talked about wearing Elvis's ring and being his girl, face it folks----Wanda's the Queen Of Rockabilly!

Little Richard
My buddy, Chris Barnes and I took a trip to Pensacola, Florida to hear the "King Of Rock and Roll", Little Richard! Believe me, Little Richard's shows do not disappoint. The place was full of people from all ages, young and old, 9 to 99, they were dancing all over the place.

With Little Richard & Chris after the show
No one can command a stage like Richard and his band. If you're ever asked what an authentic Rock and Roll band sounds like, take them to a Little Richard show for an answer.

King Charles Glenn
After the show Richard had us over to his hotel for several hours and it was a blast getting to visit with friends, King Charles Glenn and Kelvin Holly who I've worked with before and just bow to their greatness :) ! It was great getting to visit with both Mark 1 and Mark 2. I hate it that I somehow missed Harvey Thompson at the show, but he tore it up on stage!

Angel Lee, the Queen
It was really wonderful to get to hang out with my sweet, dear friend "The Angel Lee", the Queen of Little Richard's heart after all these years. Of course, Richard, an amazing host, great man, a legend, an icon, and the man that created Rock and Roll! But most of all, my friend!

George Jones and I after breakfast at Cracker Barrel
Hung out with George and Nancy Jones a bit this year. We were going to be working on some things together but George's last "Grand Tour" schedule is keeping him pretty busy. You couldn't meet two greater people. Nancy Jones, she's more than a wife and manager, she is the powerhouse that keeps the machine going. So glad to know them. You really need to catch one of the "Grand Tour" concert dates, no one should leave this world without hearing a George Jones concert! He'll always be the King Of Country Music and the best friend a song ever had.
Pierce Ferguson, Ricky Skaggs, Christian Ferguson and Sharon White

Earlier this year, my sons, Pierce (8) and Christian (12) got to come hang out in the studio with Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White. It was nice to have the boys step into my world a bit and at the same time soak in all the God-given talent Ricky and Sharon bring to a room. Ricky and Sharon are great Christian people and great friends. If you see the Skaggs name on a project, whether's it's Ricky's solo projects or someone he's produced, you can bet it's amazing.
