Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis To Release a Duet CD

Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan have been doing some tour dates together for a while now, so it's only logical that they do a whole album, and they are! According to Lorrie (via her website) the two are writing songs together and using Nashville's hit writers for material.
Should be good!!!

Prayers For George Jones

George Jones has been in and out of the hospital in the last few months with respiratory problems. This compiled with some internal family conflicts that have hit George and his wife Nancy hard, have made his recovery a bit slower than they had hoped. Nancy says that George had to go back to the hospital and she has asked for prayers. Please keep the KING OF COUNTRY MUSIC in your prayers.
Frank Sinatra said that George Jones was the 2nd best voice of all time. Meaning ole blue eyes was first. I hate to differ with Sinatra, Jones is tops.

Hank Jr Releases New Project

Below is a press release from our friends at Kirt Webster's office. Looks like Bocephus is ready to rock and roll again! Some friends of mine who worked with Hank here and there on this records say it's gonna be a "pure Hank Jr.".
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 22, 2012) – Blaster Records, in association with Warner Music Nashville, announces the details of the upcoming Hank Williams, Jr. album set for release on July 10, 2012. The twelve-song package, available for pre-sale now at, will include a duet with Brad Paisley on “I’m Gonna Get Drunk And Play Hank Williams” as well as a new duet with the legendary Merle Haggard on his classic “I Think I’ll Just Sit Here and Drink.” Williams’ first single in several years, “That Ain’t Good”, has just been shipped to radio with a companion video being produced in coming weeks.

“I’m excited about this new album,” Hank said. “I’m definitely ‘Old School’, and I am making music with ‘New Rules’. People know I’m gonna say exactly what I think and this album is exactly that.”

“Old School, New Rules” is the first album on Hank Williams, Jr.’s new label imprint, Bocephus Records, with a licensing deal with Blaster Records under a Warner Music Nashville distribution deal.

With more than 70 albums to his credit, sales of 55 million records, countless awards including 5-time Entertainer of the Year awards (ACM & CMA), BMI Icon Award, a Grammy, and most recently in 2009 the Academy of Country Music “Pioneer Award,” Williams is a living legend. His discography chronicles a bold profile of growth from adored offspring of a legendary father, to titan of the modern country rock movement in his own right. For two decades, America came to its collective feet each fall Monday night when this larger than life superman of a musician looked into the camera and unleashed the national anthem for viewers of Monday Night Football – ‘Are You Ready for Some Football?’ Those simple words have won Williams an entirely new generation of fans and given him the distinction of being the first country performer to ever win an Emmy.

AP Reporter Disputes Loretta Lynn's Age

Media outlets are reporting that Loretta Lynn is not 77, but is 80. A reported from the Associated Presshas dug up documents that make these claims, her marriage certificate, and R. Eric Henninger of the Kentucky State Law Library states that Loretta couldn't have been illegal for her to have been married under the age of 14 in the 40's.

Loretta Lynn and myself bus, a true country music legend
I personally say, it's her business how old she is and no one else's. As a fellow Kentuckian, my paternal grandmother was married at the age of the 13, like Loretta's always maintained, so whatever Henninger states about the law, evidently wasn't enforced. My grandmother also met my grandfather at a pie auction, also like Lynn, where the men bid on the female's homemade pie if he liked the young las. The winning bidder got to sit and eat the pie with the lady of his dollar's choosing.
So, Loretta, your looking good girl no matter how old you are. And people, no matter what paper you have from those days in Kentucky it doesn't make it so. My grandfather's legal spelling of his name was incorrect, and possibly if Loretta wanted to try to get married without a parent she may have fibbed about her age to do so. FOLKS it was KENTUCKY!!

In Memory of Donna Summer (1948-2012)

Dottie Rambo, Donna Summer, and myself  in 2002 (aprox)
Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948), was known to the world as "Donna Summer", died of lung cancer on May 17, 2012, in her Key West, FL home. Summer is survived by husband, Bruce Sudano, their daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, as well as her daughter Mimi from a previous marriage.

The name "Donna Summer" is known as The Queen Of Disco Music. Her groundbreaking records helped pioneer the success of Disco music. Songs like "Love To Love You Baby", "Hot Stuff" as well as countless others made Donna a huge star. Her song "She Works Hard For The Money", was a favorite of mine as a little kid.

Summer was also a very gifted writer. When Summer wrote the song, "Starting Over Again", Dolly Parton heard the song and requested permission from Summer to record it. The song would become a number one country music record and crossover adult contemporary hit for Dolly. A decade or so later, Reba McEntire covered the song and it reached number nineteen on the country charts.

Donna was a devout born again Christian who used her celebrity to share her belief in Christ with audiences all over the globe. She received some negative press from those who were anti Christian, as she was falsely accused of making a statement that God sent aids as a judgement to gays during the height of the Aids epidemic.

I had the pleasure of meeting Donna about 12 years ago. At the time I was managing Gospel Music Queen, Dottie Rambo, a longtime friend of Summers. The two sang for a Benny Hinn Crusade in Louisville, KY at Freedom Hall. During the Crusade, I hadn't heard the call for everyone on the platform to come forward to be prayed for. As Dottie Rambo's manager, I was naturally watching her during this time frame. I must have stood out, being the only person on the platform, in front of 15,000 attendees, still seated. An open palm brushed up and down my back asking if I wanted to go up for prayer. So focused on my job with Dottie, I didn't turn to see who it was trying to minister to me and simply whispered, "No". The sweet hand never left my back and once again a voice suggested prayer, "I can go with you, if you would like?".  I continued that I was fine. Then a third nudge of encouragement from the same voice "Are you sure, I promise it doesn't hurt!" snapped me into a reality check. I turned to share with the woman that I too was a Christian but since Dottie had recently broken her leg I was staying focused on her, should she need me. Then I notice, the sweet lady trying to minister to me, was Ms. Donna Summer. She and I shared a laugh, and that moment is very special to me, what a precious lady. We spent the next two days off and on with Donna, she was truly a blessing.

Donna Summer is now with Dottie Rambo and many others singing to their God, a new song of the redeemed and kicking up Gold Dust.

Coal Miner's Daughter Heading To Broadway

Country Music related projects haven't taken Broadway by storm, but that's about to change. I've always felt that if Loretta Lynn's life story/film, The Coal Miner's Daughter, was turned into a Broadway musical it would become a major sensation.

Loretta's life story was a major blockbuster film starring Sissy Spacek, who won an Oscar for her spot on portrayal of The Coal Miner's Daughter.

Dolly Parton Has A Lot To Celebrate!

Dolly Parton Friday, May 11 at Dollywood
Dolly's latest film with Queen Latifah, Joyful Noise, debuted at the number one spot for DVD releases. Adding more celebratory milestones for the country songbird, her Pigeon Forge dinner theater attraction, The Dixie Stampede, celebrated it's 25th anniversary with Dolly on hand this past Thursday, May 10. The following day she made multiple appearances at her theme park Dollywood, also in Pigeon Forge, and closed the night as the Grand Marshall of her annual parade on the Pigeon Forge Parkway. Two Men Accuse John Travolta Of Sexual Battery

Two men have came forward with lawsuits against actor, John Travolta, claiming he sexually battered them. Both men are masseurs and were employed by Travolta at resort hotels to give massages. The detail that follows are very sexually explicit so I don't wish to repeat them but for those minds that just can't help but know the "skinny" on everything google the actor.

This isn't the first time Travolta's sexual preference has been put into question. Photos of Travolta french kissing men that have been taken by paparazzi, appeared in tabloids and gospel blogs in the past.
One of several tabloids in the tast that have questioned Travolta's sexuality.

In Memory Of George Goober Lindsey

George Goober Lindsey with Hee Haw Costar, Lulu Roman  Photo by Phil Johnson
George "Goober" Lindsey, star from Hee Haw and the famous Andy Griffith Show has passed away in Nashville, TN. He was 83.

"George Lindsey was my friend. I had great respect for his talent and his human spirit. In recent years, we spoke often by telephone. Our last conversation was a few days ago. We would talk about our health, how much we missed our friends who passed before us and usually about something funny. I am happy to say that as we found ourselves in our eighties, we were not afraid to say, 'I love you.' That was the last thing George and I had to say to each other. 'I love you.' " said Andy Griffith.

Lindsey is survived by son George Lindsey Jr. of Woodland Hills, Calif.; daughter Camden Jo Lindsey Gardner, her husband, Russell, and their sons, Carson Cole Gardner and Andrew Liam Gardner, all of Valencia, Calif.; a cousin, Rebecca Weber of Gadsden, Ala.; and his companion of many years, Anne Wilson of Nashville.

Miley's new film, "LOL"

Do you remember Saved By The Bell? Or what about those after school specials in the 80's? If so, you will still be disappointed in Miley Cyrus's new film titled (very appropriately), "LOL". The movie deals with issues that some of us, of a certain age, who have children nearing teen years will one day soon have to deal with. Albeit, I don't think it will be wrapped up as quickly as Miley does it in this feature.

Demi Moore and Marlo Thomas co-star in this "piece of work". I'm seriously standing by my belief that Demi Moore didn't attempt suicide over Ashton Kutcher. I personally believe she saw a pre-screening of this film and decided to ended it all. To Marlo's credit, she is adorable in this film as Miley's fun loving granny. And to the film's credit the casting of this three generational Marlo, Demi, and Miley is hauntingly wonderful. The casting is believable.

If you are seeing this film for your child under 13, you actually get 5 stars even though the movie only gets 1. Marlo is the reason for the 1 star incase you are wondering. The 11-13 crowd market will love this film. Anyone older than this who does is probably a bit immature or slow. Or possibly they've been very sheltered.

Now for all the Miley fans who are hating me right now, this isn't an attack on her. I personally think as big of a star as she is that this vehicle is beneath her. I'm thinking that maybe Miley was looking for a vehicle where she had some control and this was presented to her, or possibly she was a fan of the original french version??? Miley needs to be very careful with her movie vehicles because her film career could very easily follow that of Jessica Simpson's. Until Miley broadens her fan base as film star, her roles would suit her better if they were stacked with incredible co-stars. For example, when Lindsay Lohan wanted to get actor "street cred" she took a small role in Robert Altman's last film co-starring Lily Tomlin, Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, and the most successful actress in modern history, Meryl Streep.

I was one 4 people in attendance of "LOL" and by the end of the movie, I was one of 3. The remaining 3 were myself and two children. Their were a few semi-comical moments, mainly delivered by Marlo Thomas. Other than that the only laugh out loud moments that "LOL" provided were exploiting a downs syndrome girl. So while that moment presented a chuckle it was a bit uncomfortable.

Jewel To Play June Carter Cash In Lifetime Movie

Jewel is to play June Carter Cash in a lifetime movie. Two things are for sure. Number one June Carter Cash will always be one of the most respected women in Country Music, and rightfully so. Number two, Hollywood seems to not know what in the world June looks like! Reese Witherspoon and now Jewel? June was never as glamorous as these two. She was very much Grandmotherly and ruggedly chic even in youth. As good as Walk The Line was, June never looked or sounded like June. I actually think Reese was prettier and even sang better. Nothing against June, who I loved. But the casting is just odd. These choices aren't the only odd casting in country music feature films. THE ROCK will be starring as country legend Charley Pride in a future feature. I didn't even know THE ROCK was black!! Seems people are having fun casting people. Lets hope they don't cast Mary J. Blige as Dolly Parton.

Jake Owen And Johnny Law Have Trouble

May 5 found country singer Jake Owen arrested in Florida by an Indian River's County Sheriff. He tweeted this photo of himself cuffed by the officer. Owen went to social media to make his case. He explains that he was wearing an old man mask and the cop ripped him out of Steak 'n' Shake and embarrassed him in front of his family. Man....I hate it when that happens!!! I'd say their could be more to the story and maybe he was a bit tipsy???? Anyway he apologized, no one was hurt, and a good laugh was had by all. Except maybe law enforcement who he claimed though they were "John Wayne".
