George Jones Sets The Record Straight!!

The greatest friend a song ever had, George Jones, is wanting everyone to know he plans to hit the road touring again this year after respiritory rehab. George hasn't been pleased with information his daughter has shared on the internet. George says that his daughter, Georgette (from his marriage with Tammy Wynette) and her husband have posted things online and facebook because of money. He says that he has had to cut her office but won't let her go hungry. Well...let George tell you...

Prayers Answered As TNN Returns To Air!

The Nashville Network, known as TNN, was a huge part of the tourist economy of the city of Nashville for many years. Aside from the value it added to the city, it also gave a huge platform to some of the Opry's legendary performers as well as the upcoming artists of the day. The network was bought and sold a couple times and eventually the name and content of the network was changed.

Jim Owens has entered a partnership with investors to bring back TNN with it's vintage programming as well as new content. Jim is the husband of TNN's former on air personality Loriane Chase. The Crook and Chase show was one of TNN's staple programs. Other popular TNN programs included Nashville Now, Primetime Country, The Statlers, Shotgun Red, and countless others.

Here's a video promo reel. Lets just say this could be really good for Nashville if it finds great footing.

Dolly Parton In The Studio with Lulu Roman

Wednesday, I had the pleasure of seeing Dolly Parton as she joined Lulu Roman in the recording studio. Dolly lent her angelic voice to Lulu's version of "I Will Always Love You" that will be on her upcoming album, "At Last".

Theirs is a new arrangement and version of the song that will blow the minds and hats off of those who hear it. The album is tentatively scheduled for release for Summer. I will post the exact release date when it is confirmed.

This is Lulu's first official foray into mainstream music. For those of you who are unaware of Lulu's singing ability, it can be summed up simply as "powerhouse". The songs on "At Last" are classics and torch favorites that Lulu has always wanted to share with the world and that allowed her to use soulful delivery and emotion unlike anything she has recorded to date.

Dick Clark More Than Bandstand

Dick Clark died yesterday of a heart attack at 82 years of age. Most know that Clark was battling the effects of a previous stroke that impaired his body.

While most people will celebrate the great television shows he brought to the popular culture (way to many to name), in my eyes his actions were far greater than his products. During the worst time of segregation, Clark, invited white and black audiences to sit together vs apart. Clark brought some of the greatest black artists to the television screen such as Little Richard, Chubby Checker, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Tina Turner, The Platters, and the list could go on and on.

While mostly known for his Rock n Roll history Dick held Nashville ties. At one time he owned the TNN (The Nashville Network) which primarily featured Country Music programs. He created the Academy of Country Music Awards to be the west coast version of Nashville's The CMA's.

Visionaries like Clark, are a once and a lifetime gift. He should be in the Country Music Hall Of Fame, and any accolade connected with pop culture. He changed, he massaged, he dictated what pop culture would be. Very rarely did his visions fail.

Dick Clark also saw the importance of Little Richard to Rock music. He once said, "Once you have seen Little Richard you have seen the most important legend in Rock history". That I have to agree with.

Jennifer Nettles Disputes Witness Testimony

Many of you will remember the horrific tragedy that took place at the Indiana State Fair due to the storms that wrecked Sugarland's stage into a crowded outdoor concert. The victims have sued the country band and the State fair. The State Fair has testified that the band's tour manager insisted that they go ahead with the concert vs canceling it when the Fair asked them to consider that they not go on. Jennifer Nettles's deposition disputes that account and says that Sugarland was never told that the Fair wanted to cancel the show.

This is one sore situation. If the shoe was on my foot and I was the entertainer, lives were lost and suffered injury, I would work out a settlement with the victims. Obviously Sugarland can afford to pay damages, or even offer a benefit shows in which all the proceeds went to the claimants. I think fighting against injured people and the families of their lost loved ones probably isn't the best PR move on their behalf. However, I think the Fair should hold the greatest responsibility. The stage in which they provided wasn't safe and I would hope that in the future all performers would increase their insurance and expectations of staging. My prayers are with all involved. It's a loss to both parties no matter what happens, but the best way out is to pay these victims.

Is Rachel Datch Thinks She's Too Ugly For Hollywood

Do you think Rachel Dratch is too ugly for Hollywood? Well, she thinks so. In her new autobiography, "Girl Walks Into A Bar..." she states:

"By Hollywood standards, I'm a troll, ogre, woodland creature, or manly lesbian. … Trolls, ogres, and woodland creatures can be done with CGI, so that leaves yours truly to play the bull dykes."

That is so sad. I hope she hangs in there. I agree with her that Hollywood obsesses to the extreme on youth and beauty. Some of the greatest actresses in history weren't considered bombshells by any means. Bette Davis, Kathy Bates and others like them rocked looks that didn't fit the Hollywood mold. I personally never understood the whole Julia Roberts is so beautiful craze. Don't get me wrong beautiful and glamorous women are wonderful but talent surpasses all beauty. HELLO???? Remember Barbara Steisand????? Talent yes, but a picture of beauty, I think not.

Rachel, don't give up. Look for better people to surround yourself with and keep the drive you had on SNL and you can get back on top of things.

George Jones Thanks Fans For Prayers, Recovering At Home

George Jones has been recovering from a battle with pneumonia. The Possum had to cancel some concert dates but is excited about getting well enough to tour again. Jones's wife, Nancy, posted the following on her facebook page:

"George wanted me to thank everyone for all the prayers, cards, letters, and get well gifts everyone has been sending. He wanted me to tell everyone he is getting better and he cant wait to see you all out on the road. He loves everyone of you and will see you soon."

My sincerest prayers go out to George and Nancy who are not only dear friends but one of Nashville's greatest power couples. George Jones will always be the King Of Country Music. Get well soon George, we need you to show these new folks what REAL COUNTRY MUSIC is.

Is Caroline leaving Jersey? Atlanta brought it this season!!

Caroline Manzo may be leaving The Real Housewives of New Jersey??? Well, I've been a little under the weather lately, so I am behind. I was tuned into Wendy Williams Show and the Queen of Daytime revealed that's the word on the street about Caroline. I hate to see her go and I won't be watching if she is gone. Teresa Guidice, is manic and needs Danielle Staub back to check her! Bravo, you better keep Caroline!

The Atlanta Housewives brought it this season. I am sitting at the end of
my chair waiting for the reunion shows. Marlowe, I hope will be added to the cast, and Kim can go on and get her jump start on working at the truck stops. I love my Atlanta girls, except ole Kim. Bring Dwight back too Bravo!
