Toby Keith Says He Is Retiring From Acting After His Two Movie Run!

Toby Keith has announced he is ending his acting career. It may just be me but I don't think Hollywood is shedding any tears.

"When I did the movies, it affected my [song]writing," Toby shared with Country Vibe "I had quality songs and we had hits and stuff, but it affected my day-to-day, my system, my routine and the volume of songs that I bring to the table when I record an album."

The acting career of Toby Keith included such smash hits as "Broken Bridges" (co-starring with Kelly Preston and Burt Reynolds) and "Beer For My Horses". I'm pretty sure at least one if not both of these films were CMT movies. Don't hold me to that. Either way, I think it's safe to say that he didn't exactly set Hollywood on fire.

"Songs get heard on the radio forever, but movies are here and then they're gone," Toby explains. "You heard the song today and then you hear it tomorrow and then ten years from now you'll still hear it every once in a while, but you'll hear it more than you'll see that movie replay. There's just not enough bang for my buck to waste that much time into a project."

No offense but movies do repeat, forever and ever as well. But....they do have to be good movies. I think Toby's a great guy, very nice in person, smart businessman, and restaurateur, but his movies leave much to be desired. Keep making those Toby Keith fun songs for the crowd and entertaining fans. Don't throw acting all together out, just make sure you align yourself with a great project, loosen up your hold on the projects, take small quality parts and work your way up. It's hard for an artist like Toby to give up that much control as most of what he has done has been successful but remember Hollywood is a long way from Nashville and California's a brand new game.
