Erica Kane's fate is in Prospect Park's hands not La Lucci's
Susan Lucci would like to continue her iconic role as Erica Kane on All My Children though Internet reports have said otherwise. Production company Prospect Park bought the rights to air All My Children for the web, along with another canceled ABC soap, One Life To Live. Prospect Park recently made the decision to only go forward with One Life To Live.
"I want my fans to know the truth. There has been miscommunications as a result of statements in the press that I am one of the reasons that All My Children is not moving forward. This is simply untrue and not the case,. We have been in discussions since Prospect Park first expressed interest in moving the series online, and in correspondence dated September 8th, I made it clear that I would be ecstatic to be a part of All My Children in a prominent way if they committed to producing the series for another year. I have not heard back from Prospect Park since then, in fact, I learned of their decision not to proceed with All My Children at the same time you did, through the media." Susan released in a recent statement.
Shame on ABC for canceling All My Children and replacing it with the reality based cooking/talk show, The Chew. With over 40 years under it's belt, All My Children and most assuredly Erica Kane have created a connection with the television audience that can't be replicated with the yawn of a show it was replaced with. The Chew has consistently had lower ratings than All My Children according to reports.
(The photo of La Lucci and I was taken in Hamptons, NY in 2002. Susan is a tiny thing and one of the most beautiful women you could lay your eyes on. She and her husband, Helmut were kind and gracious to everyone in attendance of their 4th of July reception. I know she will make a comeback in a huge way!)
